How it works

Our virtual second opinion service is led by experienced consultant oncologists and provides a thorough, independent review of your cancer diagnosis and treatment plan. The process is simple and secure:

01

Book your consultation

Choose a convenient time for your video consultation. No referral needed. Usually available within 48 hours.

02

Upload your medical documents

Submit the key documents: pathology reports, radiology reports, clinical letters, and any recent test results.

03

Attend your video consultation

Your consultant oncologist will discuss your diagnosis, answer your questions, and provide a clear expert opinion on your treatment options.

04

Receive your written report

After your consultation, you’ll receive a detailed summary letter outlining everything discussed, along with our recommendations and suggested next steps.

The consultation provides an independent specialist review of your breast cancer diagnosis, pathology, imaging reports, previous treatments, and current treatment recommendations. The focus is on systemic treatment options, including chemotherapy, endocrine therapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapy, and clinical trial options where appropriate.

The service focuses specifically on systemic treatment for breast cancer. This includes advice on chemotherapy, endocrine (hormonal) therapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapy, treatment sequencing, and clinical trial options. Recommendations are tailored to the biology of the cancer, previous treatments, overall health, and individual treatment goals.

The service does not provide specialist advice on breast surgery techniques or radiotherapy planning. These areas are managed by breast surgeons and clinical oncologists respectively.

The service is provided exclusively through secure video consultations. This allows patients to access specialist second-opinion advice remotely from anywhere in the UK or internationally.

Patients may seek a second opinion at any stage of breast cancer treatment. Common reasons include confirming a treatment recommendation, exploring additional treatment options, discussing targeted therapies or immunotherapy, understanding clinical trial opportunities, reviewing treatment options for metastatic breast cancer, or seeking greater clarity before making treatment decisions.

Patients are usually asked to provide pathology reports, imaging reports, and oncology clinic letters. These documents help ensure a detailed review can take place before the consultation.

Appointments can usually be arranged within 48 hours, depending on availability and receipt of the relevant medical records.

Initial consultations are typically 50 minutes. This allows time for a detailed discussion of diagnosis, previous treatments, current concerns, and treatment options. Follow-up appointments are usually 25 minutes.

No GP referral is required. Patients are welcome to self-refer directly for a private consultation.

Yes. Advice can include discussion of clinical trial opportunities, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, endocrine treatment strategies, and emerging systemic treatment approaches where appropriate. The suitability of these options depends on the specific characteristics of the cancer and previous treatments received.

Currently consultations are available on a self-pay basis only.

Following the consultation, patients will usually receive a written summary outlining the discussion and treatment considerations. Where appropriate, recommendations can also be shared with the patient’s treating medical team.
